Course Description
Single Hand Fly Casting
Individual/Group Lesson (1-2 Students - 1 Instructor)
Cost is per person
Classes are held at The Franklin Club in Mount Albert ON (roughly 45min drive from Toronto)
https://www.thefranklinclub.ca/
After each session students are welcome and encouraged to fish for up to an additional hour (catch and release only) at the Franklin Club for it's very large rainbow and brook trout!
At the heart of everything, fly casting is truly what makes fly fishing unique and being able to put a fly where you want it is key to success on the water. Because these are one-on-one lessons, we can tailor them to your personalized needs, whatever that may mean. At the end of the class you can expect to better understand the dynamics of your cast, potential areas of growth, and a plan for reaching your goals.
This program is geared towards intermediate level students. We can accommodate up to two students per session (if you have someone who you'd like to accompany you), however we encourage you to book individually as we find that adding students leads to less personal instruction and split attention from the instructor. Pricing is per student, we've set the price to be the same per-person-rate whether booking individually or with a friend to encourage people to book one-on-one lessons as we believe that it will be in the best interest of the student to do so.
Courses are 1 hour long. Course times are firm. After registering, you can expect a follow up email confirming the location, along with what to bring within 7 days of the class time.
Included for use in each lesson:
-Fly rod, reel, line, & leader (if you'd like to use your own you can)

Our lessons are a safe space for all - racist, homophobic, misogynistic, trans-phobic and any other discriminatory language will not be tolerated

No attendee will monopolize the instructor's time through requests and questions, as it must be shared equally amongst all students. Again, we do recommend that you register as an individual to maximize your one-on-one instruction time.

The individual supervising a minor can not join in on the course without also purchasing a ticket - supervision is not participation.

Safety is our number one priority. Proper footwear and eye protection (hat & sunglasses) must be worn at all times, pfd's must be worn when in and around water. Students will be instructed in addition on how to behave around water including wading safety, freeing of snags, and hook setting (the last two points are mandated by our insurance provider). Students must fill out a student information form, waiver, and agree to terms, including Covid 19 related conditions before any instruction takes place.
When Canada Post lost my package, the guys at Drift Outfitters honored the sale and sent me a new order the next day. It's nice to deal with a company that has great customer service.
Drift is my go to spot for all my fly fishing needs. Super friendly and helpful staff that always steer you in the right direction. Super fast shipping and great prices too.
Best fly shop around! Great group of people and they have the best selection of gear! All the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable and they do tons of awesome stuff for the community. This shop is a great resource for all anglers in southern Ontario. 10/10 will shop again
Always get good service from the guys at the shop especially Chris…he is a pro….inventory is the best I have seen I. Any speciality fly shop which is rare in a single fly shop…support Canadian business /highly recommend
Dope fly shop, crazy selection of flies including big topwater bass flies of all sorts, and big pike flies which are pretty hard to find in person. Chill staff, loads of inventory. I make a point to stop here every time I'm in Toronto!
This is the best fly fishing store I have frequented in my 30 year fly fishing experience. The owner Rob, store manager Chris and the rest of the team are very knowledgeable about products and local fly fishing locations. They will guide you towards best products for your needs, and will not try to upsell if a lower priced option is better for you...
If you are in the GTA Drift is the only fly shop you need. They have an insane amount of quality tying products, packs, waders, boots, rods and reels. They also have the best staff w/ a staggering knowledge base.
