If you’ve fished with or admired the Loop Classic before, you already know what this reel brings to the table. It’s been a trusted workhorse for years — a reel that’s just as at home on the river as it is on your display shelf. The Classic combines a vintage look with modern performance, delivering the iconic serpentine handle and timeless styling, but packing a fully sealed, smooth drag system with serious stopping power.
Whether you're swinging for steelhead, salmon, sea trout, or just want a cool reel, this reel has been a favourite among anglers who want a classic look without compromising on function!
The 2024 “Colors of the Wild” Edition introduces three fresh, bold finishes that’ll seriously elevate the look of any setup. These new colours pop without being over the top — they’ll add personality to your rod while still letting the reel’s design shine through.
Sizes & Recommended Pairings
We’ve got three sizes available in the shop right now, each tuned for different types of rods and line weights:
Loop Classic 5–8, a perfect option for:
- Lighter switch rods
- Trout spey setups
- Single-hand rods in the 6–8wt range, especially in that 9-10' foot length
This size keeps weight down while still offering solid capacity and drag performance.
Loop Classic 7–9, this is your bread-and-butter reel for most switch and compact spey applications. Ideal for:
- Rods in the 11’ to 12’6” range
Despite the larger line class, this reel still balances beautifully on modern graphite rods without feeling bulky.
Loop Classic 8–11, built for bigger water and bigger fish. This is the size you’ll want for:
- Full-length spey rods in the 12’6”–13’6” range
Still not overly heavy, the 8–11 is designed to balance longer rods without compromising casting feel or swing rhythm.
