If you’re gearing up for winter on the water, Simms just dropped a of cold-weather pieces that we’re genuinely excited about at the shop. Whether you’re swinging flies on icy steelhead rivers or just braving your daily walks in cooler temps, these new releases deliver a perfect mix of warmth, style, and technical function. Here’s a closer look at each of the new additions.
Cold Weather Fleece – Classic Look, Serious Warmth
First up, and probably the piece we’re collectively most fired up about, is the new Simms Cold Weather Fleece Shirt. This is Simms’ take on the classic high-pile fleece: warm, retro-styled, cozy, and oversized in all the right ways. Available in both Sturgeon and Black colours, it’s a statement layer that feels as good as it looks. The high-loft fleece traps heat effortlessly, while the stretch cuffs and relaxed fit keep it comfortable and non-restrictive whether you’re casting, hiking, or hosting holiday dinners. It’s the kind of throw-on piece that works just as well at the river as it does around the cabin, warm, plush, and dependable.
Midstream Jacket & Vest – Modern Wool Insulation, Ethically Sourced
Simms is also returning to something many anglers have missed from their line: wool insulation. The new Midstream Jacket and Midstream Vest bring that classic performance wool warmth into a modern technical style. These pieces use Lavalan® wool, a premium, eco-friendly insulation made from a blend of natural wool and renewable corn fibers. The result: insulation that stays warm when wet, naturally resists odour, dries quickly, and performs incredibly well as a midlayer for active days outdoors.
Simms pairs the wool fill with a durable, DWR-treated outer fabric that cuts wind and sheds light moisture, making the Midstream series ideal for winter fishing, hiking, or everyday wear. They’ve also body-mapped the insulation, adding extra warmth where your body loses heat most, and trimming bulk where you need mobility. Available in multiple colours including Jasper and Black, the Midstream line is one of the best intersections of sustainability, comfort, and on-water functionality we’ve seen in a while.
Windstopper® Beanies – Lightweight, Windproof, Winter-Ready
To round out your winter setup, Simms has released the new Windstopper® Beanies, designed to keep your head warm, which, as we all know, is where you lose a massive chunk of your heat. These toques combine lightweight comfort with a dense, fleece-lined GORE-TEX Windstopper® interior, creating a barrier that’s essentially 100% windproof. They’re soft, packable, and incredibly effective on blustery fall and winter days. A small item, but a huge difference-maker in your layering system.
You can check out all of these items online now or swing by the shop to try them on. Stay warm out there — we’ll see you on the water.
