Chris' Smelt Jig
On the Niagara River baitfish reign supreme as the dominant food for steelhead, brown trout, and lake trout. This is one of our favourite flies for targeting these fish, just fish it under an indicator or float to imitate a dead or distressed baitfish and hang on tight! These can be tied on heavier jigs for bass fishing, and can also be downsized for stillwater trout! Give it a shot and let us know what you think.
