From Richard of Slipstream Angling:
"We have an exceptionally rare opening for two anglers to join me at Three Rivers Lodge, Labrador, during the peak summer week of August 6–13, 2026. My group has been fully booked since last fall, and it’s easy to see why: Three Rivers Lodge is globally recognized as the finest destination on earth for giant wild Brook Trout, and securing a spot here is nearly impossible. The 2026 season is already sold out, 2027 has just four rods left, and 2028 is already 60% booked.
What I love about this week is that unlike most Brook Trout lodges in Labrador, where anglers spend the majority of their time casting from canoes on lakes, Three Rivers Lodge offers a wading-focused experience. Nearly all the fishing takes place in rivers, creeks, and channels, the way fly fishing for trophy brookies was meant to be. Canoes are available, for those who want them, but I much prefer to wade to my fish, especially when casting a dry fly.
The lodge sits in the heart of an untouched boreal wilderness that looks exactly as it did a thousand years ago. The waters here are alive with Brook Trout averaging 4–8 pounds, with fish in the double-digit class landed each summer. August is prime time, when these trout are at their most spectacular, thick-bodied, brilliantly colored, and aggressive on the surface.
The Woods River environment that Three Rivers Lodge fishes is a classic freestone system, fast-flowing, cold, and oxygen-rich, punctuated by a “chain of ponds”: a series of natural lakes, broad reaches, and quiet pools that break up the current. Between these still waters, the river gathers speed, forming numerous rapids that range from short 100-yard chutes to extended whitewater stretches nearly a mile long.
Throughout the season, these rapids act as conveyor belts of food, often concentrating brook trout on “feeding stations”. Each stretch offers a variety of holding water: plunge pools where the current carves depth, shallow riffles alive with insect activity, long runs with steady seams, boulder gardens with pocket water, and willow-shaded undercut banks where the biggest fish lurk. It is, in every sense, a river angler’s playground.
The Woods is fed by countless tributaries—too many to name. Some are nursery waters, sheltering smaller trout, while others conceal true giants, fish that slip between the main stem and their hidden sanctuaries depending on flows and season.
The week includes six full days of fishing and seven nights at the main camp. Anglers will explore a wide range of legendary waters, including the Eagle River feeder stream and rapids, Rick’s Run and Victoria Run, upstream, and the Woods River downstream all the way to the 12th Rapids.
Travel to these fisheries is via 17’ Lund boats or 16–23’ motorized freighter canoes. Each angler package also includes two fly-outs by floatplane, providing access to even more remote stretches of this extraordinary river system (weather permitting).
While there are also trophy Northern Pike and Lake Trout in the area, this week is deliberately focused on the crown jewel of Labrador—the wild Brook Trout.
This is not only a world-class angling opportunity, but also a rare one: two rods have just become available due to a guest’s health issue. I will be on-site, personally hosting this trip and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
