Lake & Pond (Stillwater) Trout Flies w/ Chris Krysciak - Sat March 14th, 11:30am - Learn to tie 5 of the best stillwater flies for fishing trout in Ontario!
Event Type: In-Person only
Location: Drift Outfitters & Fly Shop - 199 Queen St E, Toronto, ON, M5A 1S2
If you've never tried fishing for trout in stillwaters (fancy name for lake, pond, or reservoir) before, you're missing out! These fish often grow larger than they do in rivers and Ontario has tonnes of lakes to fish!
In this class, Chris will be teaching you to tie 5 of his top producing stillwater trout flies including a:
- nymph
- wet fly
- dry fly
- streamer
- booby
Chris is an avid competitive fly angler and has represented Fly Fishing Team Canada at the World Fly Fishing Championships twice and has had a chance to learn from some of the best stillwater anglers in the world. The flies tied in this class are the same ones found in many of their fly boxes too!
If you're interested in this class you may also want to check out Ian Troup's intro to stillwater fishing class that we're hosting on Feb 21st! Ian is one of Chris' longtime teammates and will be presenting a top to bottom approach to how to find and fish for these fish. This won't be a fly tying talk but rather a fishing talk, so come to Ian's presentation first and then Chris' to get the full package of tactics and flies! You can get tickets for Ian's talk HERE
Each student will receive all materials needed to tie 5 proven patterns and will get to take home the flies they tie. Students must have some tying experience for this class.
All materials are provided, students must provide their own fly tying vise and following tools.
- Vise
- Scissors
- Bobbin
- Whip finisher
- Bodkin
Classes are roughly 2 hours in length but may vary depending on the ability of the class.
