You may have heard of stillwater fly fishing before, this is just fishing lakes and ponds for trout, if you haven't tried fishing lakes and ponds for trout before, you're missing out! Not only do trout grow much larger in these environments, but Ontario has WAY more lakes available with trout than it does rivers, learning to fish them will open up whole new horizons for your fishing!
Ian Troup is a long time fly fishing guide & competitive fly angler who has represented Canada at multiple World Fly Fishing Championships as well as Commonwealth Fly Fishing Championships, and has trained with some of the best lake (stillwater) anglers from the UK and Europe. Even if you have no interest in competitive fly fishing, the experience that Ian brings to the table from having fished with world class anglers around the world is invaluable and we can promise you that you will learn something new in this session!
In this class you'll learn where to find (and not find) trout in lakes, how fish move through the seasons, about the basic entomology of lakes & other food sources, how to select flies, rigging leaders, how to use sinking fly lines, and more! You'll have opportunities to ask questions and even see some of the flies Ian fishes.
