Fishing Forecast for June 4th

This weekend brought spring like temperatures, absolutely perfect for so many fish species! Our trout season continues to produce more quality fish than we've seen in several seasons, bolstered by lots of cold water and enough water that the fish haven't become all that spooky.

Check out our trout, musky, and carp reports below!

Make sure to check out the "Hot Flies" section below to set yourself up for success!

Trout Forecast

We're getting into big bug season for trout on all of our rivers! Depending on river you can expect to see hatches of drakes, ISO's, caddis, and foxes. All very fun hatches to fish! With the rain over the last couple days, this is prime time to fish big streamers for big fish as the water still has a little bit of stain. Going into the weekend think about fishing dries and nymphs as water continues to clear and warm up.

Carp Forecast

Fish are up shallow on both the Great Lakes as well as smaller inland lakes like the Kawarthas. Many fish are in the spawn but you can find actively feeding fish if you're observant and these ones will inhale a well presented fly!

Musky Forecast

Musky season kicked off in Southern Ontario this past weekend unofficially announcing the start of summer! Smaller flies (5-8") fished in transition areas coming off spawning bays and early weedbeds will be key! Look for weedbeds anywhere from 5-20' close to creek mouths where those fish would have recently spawned.

Bead Head Sparkle Pupa (Trout)

Caddis flies are being seen on almost all of our rivers now and you'll see them continue for most of our trout season. Check out one of our favourite patterns here!

Pike Wiggler (Pike & Musky)

Blur the lines of fly fishing with these awesome predator flies! Tied by a local angler for the shop and deadly effective!

Ritt's Fighting Crawfish (Carp)

A perfectly bite-sized crayfish for carp!  We love this colour for our Great Lakes fishing!
