Trout Opener Report!

We hope everyone had a fantastic trout opener, whether that meant steelhead or resident trout!

We fished everyday from Saturday to Monday, and found success everywhere we went! There was some nuance to picking the right water at the right time to deal with the rain, but when you got it right fishing was phenomenal! What really made this opener unique was that we had success fishing streamers, nymphs and dry flies, there was something for everyone!

Worm flies are very productive if you're fishing resident trout, especially with higher water, target softer water near the banks where fish will set up to ambush things falling in the water.

If you're fishing the slower/lower water areas of some of our resident trout waters, be on the lookout for hendrickson mayflies, we've already gotten into some really quality fish on dries looking for this hatch!

If out for steelhead, baitfish patterns, either swung, nymphed or stripped, are a great way to cover water! There are good numbers of steelhead still in the rivers, however they will start dropping out and spreading out so covering water using streamers can be extremely effective!
